This hydraulic distributor consists of a multiple outlet manifold with individual control valves for each cargo tank compartment. It is used to manually select which valves are actuated for a multi-compartment cargo tank. When a control valve is closed, it blocks the flow of hydraulic fluid from the pump to the valve, yet flow can always travel from valve back to the pump. This unique and critical feature is required to insure the proper function of the emergency shut-down system as-well-as protects the valve from over-pressurization due to possible thermal expansion.
